VICE PRESIDENT, PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

Tom Doyle joined Legends International in June 2018 as a key hire in the building of our Project Development capacity in Europe. He has recently been promoted to Vice President, Project Development.

Tom has been working in construction and development for 20 years as a project manager, contractor and client. He is driven by getting the very best out of teams of creative people and making places that people want to keep coming back to.

He has over 14 years’ experience in managing sports stadia and indoor arena projects in cities including London, Paris, Madrid, Liverpool, Glasgow, and Manchester.  Tom also has experience in the education, commercial office and healthcare and residential sectors.

He has held Executive Director/Senior Management-level positions in major clients including Liverpool Football Club, The Scottish Event Campus and Allied London, managing a wide range of projects in the sports, entertainment, culture and commercial sectors.

 

REPRESENTATIVE PROJECTS:

Bernabéu redevelopment, Real Madrid, 2018-2019  

Project Director managing the Legends team, who conducted a detailed review of existing operations and, from those findings, sought to develop innovative, profitable and fan-led experiences. Findings from this work were then integrated into the designs and construction programme to create a robust and deliverable business model for the future.

The SSE Hydro Arena, Glasgow, completed 2013  

Tom was Project Director for the landmark project, reporting directly to the CEO, with responsibility for the delivery of the €140m Queen’s Docks 2 development programme, the centrepiece of which is the Foster + Partner’s – designed SSE Hydro Arena, now the second busiest entertainment arena in the world.

Factory, Old Granada Studios, Manchester, 2016-2018  

Project Director for the €120m Factory project, a unique, large-scale, technologically advanced ultra-flexible performing arts venue, designed to enhance the UK’s cultural reputation and output. The venue will be the new permanent home of the Manchester International Festival and the first major public building in the UK by the internationally renowned architects OMA, led by Rem Koolhaas.

King Power Stadium for Leicester City Football Club, ongoing  

Tom is Project Director for Legends’ work with LCFC. This involves the redevelopment of the King Power stadium, where Tom is leading the team of consultants who are designing the expansion of the stadium and masterplanning  supporting uses around the stadium. Tom is also managing the Legends’ teams work on business planning and market research, leading to new commercial proposals for the stadium.

Liverpool Football Club, 2013-2020  

LFC’s Project Director for the €124m new Main Stand at Anfield, which was completed in 2016. Reporting to the Chief Executive and Ownership group. Funded by the Fenway Sports Group, the all-seater stand is one of the largest in football, taking the capacity at Anfield over 54,000 and increasing matchday revenues by over €14m in its first year alone. Other projects managed include the new €6m flagship retail store at Anfield, accessible stadia improvements, the fit-out of two city-centre  retail outlets and the refurbishment of Melwood, the club’s training facility.

London 2012 Olympics, 2008-2011  

Project Manager on the London 2012 programme, initially Head of Off-Park Venues and then as a Project Manager on the 80,000 capacity Olympic Stadium, leading its handover to the Organising Committee. Tom reported on a monthly basis to thedirectors of The Olympic Delivery Authority. The stadium, with a build cost of €520m, was the fastest Olympic stadium ever built, with the best health and safety record. It hosted one million visitors during the games fortnight.
