Columbus Crew Stadium Case Study
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Columbus Crew is building a new MLS stadium in Columbus’ Downtown Arena District. The 412,000 square foot 20,000 seat stadium boasts a public grand entry plaza that will be accessible to the community on non-match days, a 5,000 square foot city facing Beer Hall that can be rented or open during plaza concerts and events.
The re-imagined Nordecke supporters’ zone is a 3,400-seat safe standing section flanked by elevated viewing patios, video board and dedicated beer garden.
CSL/Legends assisted the Crew in strategic placement and sizing of Premium offerings throughout the stadium. Loge boxes cantilever from the west suite level toward the field setting a new precedent in MLS stadium programing. The west field club and east field suites allow social gatherings under the lower-level deck with direct access to sideline seats.

RESULT
The new Crew Stadium is one the latest MLS Facilities to be built in the last few years. As the MLS has matured over the past 20 years, the demand for soccer and associated facility requirements have evolved to stay in step. Legends is engaged to provide project management, premium ticket sales, and sponsorship services for the project. Working with the team and architect, Legends was able to identify the demand and help guide the design to produce a 20,000-seat stadium with multiple clubs and premium suites. From purchase of the franchise at the end of 2018 to the opening in 2021, the project will be completed in under 32 months. One of the greatest challenges encountered in the beginning of the project was identifying the flood plain through the site and needing to accommodate a design to meet those requirements, which was expeditiously done to stay on schedule.
